Structural shop design,which is a primary step of the design for contruction stage of oil and gas facilities,can affect the schedule,quality and cost of a construction project fundamentally.Because of miscellaneous structural formation in different projects,there is lack of unified and systematic guidance for structural shop design.In order to improve the efficiency and quality of structural shop design for piperack modules,this study is commenced with LNG project FWP5 as a case,expecting a systematic and effective shop design method can be developed to ensure the project schecdule and provide guidance to structural shop design of future projects.Aimed at improving the efficiency and accuracy of the shop design for the whole structure of the 39 piperack modules,a systematic flow for structural shop design is established by analyzing the characteristics of detailed design drawings and combining shop design processes with TEKLA functions,and then “shared custom component collection method” along with accurate templates of drawings and reports is created based on innovative method study and secondary development of TEKLA to facilitate modeling fast as well as extracting drawings and reports directly.Meanwhile,“Visual LISP” programming for secondary development in Auto CAD and NC file processing in Auto NEST are utilized to generate nesting drawings automatically in view of nesting deficiency in TEKLA.Practice shows that this systematic and innovative shop design method can improve the efficiency of shop design work by 2.4 times,decrease drawing error rate by 1.5%,save cost by more than 5 millions,and optimize the guidance information for construction activities.Finally,the Yamal LNG project FWP5 package is completed on schedule.
