For indoor environment, illumination is undoubtedly essential.Illumination can not only satisfy people's primary needs for light condition, but also plays a role in creating artistic conception and atmosphere. With the rapid development of economic progress and the sustained expansion of urbanization, people's living standards have been significantly improved. But at the same time, the pace of life for modern people has become more and more rapid, making them to face continuously increased pressure in learning, living, and working.Under this circumstance, effective rest and relaxation has become the increasingly prominent life needs of modern people. In a limited space, light can create a comfortable healing environment to relieve fatigue, thus effectively meeting the needs of modern people for a good rest.Accordingly, lamps are currently more designed for satisfying a high-level demand rather than the basic need of lighting. To be specific, the designers are eager to achieve more interaction through lamps and light sources, and give users more physical and mental emotional experience.Environmental psychologists,Kaplan and Berman proposed that individual representation can be improved through restoring resources with the natural environment as a restorative environment based on the theory of attention restoration and the effect of attention in self-control.Water as one of the representative natural elements in the design field, has been extensively applied in the landscape and environmental design in recent years, whereas its applications in the design of lamps have been rarely discussed.Hence, focusing on the target of designing a live wall lamp in line with the the theory of restorative environment, this design investigated the influence of the luminous environment containing the natural element of water on self-control based on the selfcontrol model and the attention restoration theory. To begin with,National standard for lamps and lanterns and the role of lights in different occasions had been studied by literature research. On this basis, the design concept for wall lamp was formed through functional decomposition and element combinations. Then, design modeling of lamp parts and assembly manufacturing of products were performed with the help of Solid Works.Meanwhile, arduino was adopted to program on the uno panel for implementing the control and interaction between the mobile phone and the wall lamp. Moreover, experimental programing and acquisition of experimental data were conducted via E-Prime.At last, the verification and evaluation of the design was concluded upon the analysis of experimental data in SPSS.The experiment was composed of two pre-studies and one formal experiment.More precisely, light involving dynamic changes of natural elements was set in the pre-study,and light without dynamic changes was set as control group. The experimental participants were asked to evaluate the environment in accordance with the Chinese version of Restorative Environment Scale modified by Ye Liuhong,et al.The experimental results shows that, under the environment of light involving dynamic changes of natural elements, the score of participants' score were significantly higher than that of control group, indicating that the environment is effectively manipulated in the experiment. In this way, this environment was chosen as the intervention means for the subsequent experiments. The formal experiment was conducted for studying the influence of the environment set in the pre-study on the inhibitory self-control in cognitive tasks. In the formal experiment, ego depletion was induced and detected via the Stroop color interference test. The tasks included three types: word color consistent, word color inconsistent and neutral task. The intervention of the luminous environment was set as the independent variable and the performance of self-control,namely the test accuracy and response time of the experimental participants were set as dependent variable. The experimental procedure for the participants is to firstly complete four groups of Stroop tasks. Then the participants were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental and the control group.Intervention with different conditions were conducted on the two groups of participants during the time of their rest. Finally these two group of people were asked to complete a set of Stroop tasks. The main conclusions of the experiment are as follows:1.There was a significant difference in the accuracy between the experimental group and the control group before and after intervention, and the experimental group was significantly better than the control group.2.There was no significant difference in reaction time between the experimental group and the control group before and after intervention.3.In group 1-4,the accuracy rate of both the experimental group and the control group was significantly lower than that of group 5.4.At stage 5 of group 5,the response time of the experimental group and the control group under consistent and neutral task conditions was significantly lower than that under inconsistent task conditions.5.For the three types of task questions, the response time of the experimental group and the control group in stages 1-4 was significantly higher than that in group 5.The conclusion 1 results revealed that the experimental group is superior to the control group in terms of accuracy in accomplishing Stroop tasks while resting at the dynamically changing luminous environment.Apparently, the luminous environment containing dynamic changes of natural elements has a better restorative effect on loss of attention compared to the control group. In this thesis, the yeelight smart bulb was adopted as the illuminant.Based on this, natural elements were simulated through the design of lamp cover and internal structure to finally accomplish the design of the wall lamp. The designed wall lamp that can create a dynamically changing lighting environment is different from those traditional lamps.Individuals resting in such a lighting environment can better restore the loss of attentions and will have a positive performance after resting.
