During the Total Anti-Japanese War,the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region relied on abundant coal resources and vigorously developed the coal industry. The coal industry gradually developed and expanded, which contributed to meeting the needs of military and civilian coal for production and living in the Border Region and supporting the Anti-Japanese War.The first part of this research discusses the basic situation of the coal industry in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Revolutionary Base before the Total Anti-Japanese War.The Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region has a long history of coal mining, which can be verified from archaeological discoveries and historical records. The coal reserves in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Revolutionary Base are abundant, widely distributed, and have great potential for development and utilization.Restricted by the socio-economic conditions at that time, the coal industry in the Base during the Republic of China has never been able to develop. The second part discusses the stage of coal industry development in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Total Anti-Japanese War.With the establishment of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government, the coal industry in the Border Region has ushered in new development. The number of coal mines, the number of coal workers, and coal production have all shown an upward trend year by year. The coal industry in the Border Region has gradually developed and grown, and has gone through three stages of initial development, development and growth, and prosperity. The third part discusses the difficulties and problems in the development of coal industry in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Total Anti-Japanese War.In the process of developing the coal industry, the Border Region is faced with numerous difficulties and problems: coal workers are unstable and not very motivated to produce;coal mining technology and equipment are outdated;funds are short for starting coal mines;traffic is inconvenient and coal sales are not smooth;public coal mines are independent and lacking Unified leadership. This has seriously affected the rapid development and growth of the coal industry in the Border Region. The fourth part discusses the measures taken to develop the coal industry in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Total Anti-Japanese War.The Border Region Government directly faces many difficulties and problems in the development of the coal industry, adopts a multi-pronged approach and comprehensively implements policies.By improving the treatment of coal workers, launching production competitions, stimulating production enthusiasm, organizing coal mine surveys, increasing investment, improving transportation, expanding sales and strengthening the centralized leadership, supervision and management of public coal mines and other measures, which effectively promoted the development and growth of the coal industry in the Border Region. The fifth part discusses the historical significance of the development of coal industry in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Total Anti-Japanese War.Under the correct leadership and strong support of the Border Region Government, the coal industry in the Border Region has achieved considerable development, solved some of the fuel problems of the people in the Border Region, provided industrial fuel, increased the financial revenue, prospered the Border Region's economy, played the role of strategic material guarantee, strongly supported the Anti-Japanese War,and cultivated a large number of outstanding talents in the field of industrial science and technology for the New China.
