On The Relationship Between Comb And Hairstyle

Back in antient times,the comb,with one edge fine-toothed and the other sparsetoothed,was a necessary combing tool as well as an important hair accessory.Over the thousands of years of historical evolution,the comb has been a symbol of culture and folklore,carrying people's emotions,imagination,wishes and happiness,and containing their pursuit and creation of art and beauty.Nowadays,though the comb is still constantly developing,yet the spiritual connotation it expresses has quietly faded in our daily life.“She has hair neatly braided,pearl earrings like moonbeams”.The image of the beauty portrayed in the poem By the Roadside Mulberry has gone with history.The long hair blowing in the wind and clean short hair commonly seen on the streets have announced that the comb is no longer trendy.During the process of changing times,attention is gradually paid to the cultural value and significance of these common daily necessities,which is sign indicating the value of the contemporary existence of the comb.Therefore,this study explored the importance of the comb and the hairstyle,hoping that the comb can bring its value into fuller play.First of all,the concept of the comb was briefly elaborated,based on which the history,culture and background of the comb was profoundly studied.By analyzing the design evolution and development status of the comb,the traditional cultural connotation and existence value of the comb were traced.Secondly,through deeply probing into the impacts on and changes in the comb and women's hairstyles as well as the relationship between the two under the specific social background of ancient times,it was found that the existence of the comb was influenced by changes in hairstyles based on the social background,thereby concluding the interdependent relationship between the comb and hairstyles.In the end,the contemporary aesthetics and demands of the ancient comb were transformed based on the relationship between the comb and hairstyles,thus discovering the value of the comb in contemporary Chinese style wedding.Hence,under the guidance of the interdependent relationship between the two,we completed the design practice of the comb applied in Chinese style wedding,striving for the comb to give better play to its value.
