Study On Body Jewelry In The Context Of Consumer Culture

At the beginning of the 20 th century,western countries entered the consumer society,the non-material value of goods was emphasized and highlighted,entertainment and hedonism filled people’s life,consumer culture is more and more popular.In this era,the body has increasingly become the core of popular consumer goods and self-identity.Based on the theories of consumer culture,body aesthetics and visual culture,this study,through combing the historical context of contemporary body jewelry in China and the west,found the influence of consumer culture on contemporary body-themed jewelry,and found the performance characteristics of body-themed jewelry in the context of consumer culture.This paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter is the introduction,which elaborates the research theme,purpose and significance of this paper based on the existing research review and summary.The second chapter Outlines the concept and characteristics of consumer culture and the expression of the body as a consumer object in consumer culture.It discusses how the consumer society constructs "standard beauty" and "ideal beauty" and how people pursue "standard beauty" through plastic surgery.In the third chapter,the author further discusses the relationship between body art and contemporary jewelry.Taking several artists as examples,the author analyzes the plastic surgery phenomenon in consumer culture in artistic practice,and classifies and analyzes the study of Chinese and western body jewelry in three aspects.In the last chapter,through the above theoretical and practical research,it discusses how to express the "standardized" plastic surgery phenomenon in consumer culture with the language of contemporary jewelry.
