Faced with the rising demand for wood materials and the serious shortage of timber resources,researchers all over the world are looking for a material that can replace wood to alleviate this contradiction between supply and demand.As an eco-friendly material from biomass,bamboo oriented strand board(BOSB)has great application potential in the manufacture and design of furniture.However,the current BOSB was mainly used in structural materials,interior decoration,packaging structure and container floor,while the applications in furniture design were relatively rare.This is primarily because the BOSB board was generally harder and the milling process was more difficult.Therefore,how to reduce the processing of BOSB through the design of new furniture connection structure was of great significance for widening the application of BOSB in furniture design.In addition,the BOSB was natural environment protection,and the color and texture are natural and has great potential advantages for children's furniture design.Based on the research of children's physiological and psychological,BOSB was used as the raw materials,and through the new plug-in connection structure design,puts forward the principle of children's furniture design with BOSB,and develops two kinds of two-plate and three-plate type plug-in connectors for BOSB.Then,the two connectors was used for the plug-in structure to design the children's furniture with BOSB.In addition,on the basis of comparative analysis with wood oriented strand board,three-in-one connector,two-in-one connector,wood plug,transparent butterfly connector,white connector,and roman post fasteners,the finite element analysis was used to analysis the stress and strain distribution of the L-type components with two-plate joints under different load conditions.This results provided a scientific theoretical basis for the design of the new plug-in connection structure with BOSB.The results of the study were as follows:(1)According to the finite element analysis,the strength of the two-plate plug-in connector basically determines the joint strength of the L-type components with BOSB,which in turn affects the overall bearing capacity of the components.Therefore,the strength of the two-plate plug-in connector has an important influence on the stability and safety of the furniture structure made with BOSB,and the strength of the connector must be ensured by material selection.In addition,in the design of furniture structure with BOSB,in order to ensure the stability and safety of the structure,the member should be protected from the cantilever bending load.The farther the cantilever position is from the node,the greater the deformation under the same load.Moreover,the results also indicated the deformation of the L-type BOSB components under compression was greater than the deformation under the tension load.(2)Through the failure mode analysis of the L-type plug-in connection structure,it can be seen that under the action of two failure modes of compression and tension,the two-plate plug-in connector maintains a complete surface morphology,indicating that the material selected for this connector can meet the needs of BOSB furniture structure connection.(3)The new two-plate plug-in connector developed in this paper can significantly improve the connection performance of BOSB.With this connector,the maximum bending moment capacities of the BOSB components was about 2-3 times that of the wood OSB components under the cantilever bending load,the compression load and the tension load.In addition,the new two-plate plug-in connector has significantly better connection performance than the three-in-one connector,two-in-one connector,wood plug,transparent butterfly connector,white connector,and roman post fasteners.What's more,under the cantilever bending load,the L-type components adopting the new two-plate plug-in connector has a maximum bending moment capacities of about 4-22 times that of the other six kinds of connecting members.Under the action of compression,the maximum bending moment capacities is about 3-20 times of the other 6 kinds of connectors,while the maximum bending moment capacities is about 2-6 times that of the other six connectors when the components under the action of tension.(4)BOSB has a large hardness and was difficult to be milled.Therefore,the traditional plug-in connection structure cannot meet the high-efficiency manufacturing of children's furniture,and the new two-plate or three-plate plug-in connector can meet the diversified needs of children's furniture and meet the processing efficiency of BOSB.(5)With the new panel plug-in connectors,it is possible to design a wide variety of children's furniture that is easy to disassemble without damaging BOSB.The color and texture of these various kinds of BOSB children's furniture were natural and easy to combine,and have the advantage of improving the fun and ingenuity of children's furniture.
