CNC engraving machines are widely used in all kinds of molds,carving crafts and other industries.The vast majority of CNC engraving machines in companies now realize pattern engraving on the only plane parts and simple non-planar surfaces.Model simplification and the demand for product diversification,making it difficult to meet the market demand,diversification of CNC engraving machines must be a trend.In this paper an in-depth research on control system of CNC engraving machines based on column and cone composite surface is carried out.The main researched contents are as follows:(1)The overall design of CNC system for engraving machine is studied.Using hardware structure of " Industrial control computer + PCI-1750 kinematics controller",programming control procedures in VC++6.0 software and calling library functions in the PCI-1750 kinematics controller achieve the linkage of stepper motor on B,Y and Z axis.(2)The structure and style of NC program adopted in engraving machine is presented,designing and developing corresponding compiled modules.User-friendly interface is designed by using VC++6.0 software on the Windows XP operating system,including load program,process graphics,overrun protection,system parameter settings and other functions.With interruptting function of PCI-1750 and Multi-threaded programming techniques of VC++6.0,the real-time problem and multi-tasking in CNC system are solved.(3)A base coordinate point-by-point interpolation theary of spatial straight lines is researched,the program flow and simulation optimization are given,achieving functions of spiral,diamond and Chinese characters carved on column and cone composite surface.Differential interpolation algorithm is also improved,achieving functions of graphics carved on cylinder surface.(4)Using Mastercam X5 of the graphical interactive programming software,Chinese characters,diamond and other graphics carved on conical surface,cylinder surface or column and cone composite surface are designed.Then the tool path is worked out.And finally,by transformed into NC program through the post-processor,it is sent to the CNC engraving machine based on column and cone composite surface for processing verification.(5)Generated programs by using Mastercam X5 are processed.The correctness of the base coordinate point-by-point interpolation theary of spatial straight lines and the differential interpolation algorithm are verified by use of engraving machine in the laboratory,and the experimental precision can meet the needs of teaching demonstration and production.
