With the rapid development of the social economy,the single assembly line cannot meet the market's variable needs anymore and mixed model assembly line has begun to receive more attention than before.During the assembly process of large-scale products such as automobiles and construction machinery,multiple workers exist in the same workstation who can independently complete their own assembly tasks and the organization of such assembly line generally uses a multi-manned mixed model assembly line because of the large size of their products.The multi-manned mixed model assembly line balancing and sequencing problem has also become a trouble that those enterprises must face in the assembly line design process.By analyzing the excavator actual assembly of the JH company,the paper finds that the main problems faced by the company are load unbalancing and undersupply.In response to these problems,the author first analyzes the characteristics of multi-manned mixed model assembly line.Then,in terms of the problems faced by the JH company,in the case of the known cycle time and under the constraints of the number of workstations,this paper establishes a mathematical model of multi-manned mixed model assembly line balance problem with the target of the minimum total number of assembly line workers,the balance of the worker's load and the consistent product assembly time.Moreover,a genetic algorithm is designed to solve the problem,and the new assembly line configuration is obtained.Eventually,on the basis of the load balancing research,this paper studies the production sequencing problem of the JH company's excavator and establishes a mathematical model of sequencing problem with the goal of the minimum cost of earliness/tardiness,then it applies the genetic algorithm to get the new product sequencing.After such improvements and modifies,the new assembly line configuration reduces the cycle time of the excavator assembly to less than 51 minutes with the same total number of workers,which reduce the assembly cycle time effectively.The balance level of the worker's load and the balance rate of assembly line are also improved obviously.What's more,the new product production sequence is significantly lower than the original production sequence in the cost of earliness/tardiness.Through the optimization and improvement in this paper,the problems currently faced by the JH company are effectively solved,which offers certain reference value and significance for similar enterprises when facing the similar challenges.
