Hot rolling H beam is a kind of economical and applicable steel with complex section. It has been becoming more and more widely used in many fields of the national economy and the people’s livelihood. In order to obtain excellent mechanical properties in H beam, such as high strength, uniform performance,ultra-fast cooling is generally used to improve the microstructure of H beam,as well as the mechanical properties.Because of the complicate shape of the H-beam,uneven cooling and many defects are prone to occur in the practical cooling controlled process, and even have no choice to correct. In view of the above problems, experiments and ANSYS finite element simulation are adopted in this paper. The temperature and displacement field on H-beam are simulated, and the strain and stress are further studied. The parameters of controlled cooling were optimized according to the temperature distribution in H-beam.The deformation rules of H-beam under different cooling conditions is found by adjusting these parameters, which will be useful for the industrial production. The results of this paper are as follows:(1)The validity of finite element simulation is verified by contrasting with the experiment data at the same conditions.(2)By using finite element analysis,H beam at different ultra-fast cooling processes were simulated. The residual stress due to the uneven cooling rate leads to distorition. The larger different in temperature, the more serious the distorition is.(3)Conducting the experiment by using the optimal parameters from the simulation. At these conditions,it is found that the temperature field is more uniform, displacement is smaller, which is satisfying the practical use.(4)The temperature field have little differences in different steel at the same ultra-fast cooling processes. However, the residual stress and the distorition become more severe as the carbon and alloy elements content increases in the different steel.
