With the long-term efforts of geoscience workers,full coverage and multi-scale DEM,remote sensing image,digital geological map and other geographic data are basically available.Based on these data,automatically extracting entity information of structural landform and rapidly mapping,has great research value for many fields,such as geomorphic hazards prevention,environmental planning and management,regional planning,major engineering construction,and so on.In this study,the structural valley in geological structural landform is selected as the research object,DEM and digital geological map as the main data source,by the unit division,type parsing,elements parsing and characteristics parsing of the structural valley,automatic parsing,structured storage and rapid mapping of its entity information is realized.The main contents and conclusions of the study are as follows.(1)Method on the unit division of the structural valley based on growth-constraint mechanism.According to the principle of vector cellular automata model and the control effect of terrain feature lines on landform,on the basis of sub-basins and terrain feature lines(ridge lines and valley lines),the boundary division of the structural valley based on growth of subbasin and constraint of terrain feature line mechanism is realized.The experimental results show that divided boundary by this method has good agreement with the actual terrain.(2)Method on the parsing of the structural valley type based on rule reasoning.On the basis of type recognition for geological structure,through formalization the relationship between development location and extension direction of the structural valley and the geological structure,the recognition rules in different types of valleys are defined,and then synclinal valley,anticlinal valley,monoclinal valley and fault valley based on rule reasoning are automatically parsed.The experiment results show that the method is feasible.(3)Method on the parsing of the elements and characteristics of the structural valley.Based on the buffer construction,the extraction of two kinds of geomorphologic elements of the valley bottom and the valley wall is realized.On the basis of teasing out the characteristic parameters of the structural valley,types of the structural valley based on the cross section form(V-shaped valley,U-shaped valley and the asymmetrical valley),slope forms of the valley wall based on total deviation and curvature(straight form,convex form,concave form and convex-concave form)and types of slope structure based on occurrence(horizontal slope,bedding slope,reversal incline slope,tangential slope and vertical slope)are classified.(4)Design of thematic mapping scheme of the structural valley.According to the cartography theory,the thematic mapping process of the structural valley is regulated.Through the design of legend system,attribute system and thematic layer template,the thematic mapping scheme of the structural valley is formed.(5)Research and development of automatic parsing system for the structural valley.Based on the above research content,the prototype system is designed and developed,and the function of the unit division,type parsing,elements parsing and characteristics parsing of the structural valley is realized.Based on the practice of Mount Lu experimental area,this system better supports the automatic parsing and rapid thematic mapping application of the entity information of the structural valley in Mount Lu.In this study,the automatic parsing method on the structural valley not only breaks through the limitations of traditional geomorphologic parsing methods based on statistical pattern recognition and image feature matching applied to the parsing of the structural valley landform,but supports the high quality division of the entity unit of the structural valley,which is an effective attempt and preliminary exploration of fully automated the structural landform mapping.This research partly breaks through the restriction on high cost and low efficiency of geomorphologic entity information acquisition in current structural landform mapping,by the scheme design of the structural valley thematic mapping,and can provides the normalized data support for the three-dimensional modeling study of the structural geomorphic entities in the future.
