Chinese desert ecosystem is far from the sea, it rich in gene resources of rare and precious wildlife due to its special location, and it has distinctive structure and function. Currently, the number of assessment on the value of forests, wetlands ecosystem biodiversity is more than the desert ecosystem. Assessing its value, make people realize that desert ecosystem has huge non-use values of biodiversity, improve people's awareness of its importance which is good for the protection and development of the biodiversity in desert ecosystem. The research on biodiversity of desert ecosystem in China was proposed in the background of the global biodiversity conservation, it is the needs of conservation and sustainable on Chinese desert ecosystem biodiversity, and also strengthen the presence and management of it, to achieve sustainable use of the desert ecosystem biodiversity.The contingent valuation method (Contingent Valuation Method, CVM) was used to assess the non-use values of desert ecosystem biodiversity. In this study, payment card (Payment Card, PC) questionnaire was used to distributing3569questionnaires about31provinces (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan),2803valid questionnaires were obtained by screening. On the basis of survey data, the logistic model was established to discuss the relationship between WTP and all socio-economic factors of residents. The Kendall Correlation Coefficient was used to manifest factors influenced the amount of payment. Contingent Valuation Method was used to assess the non-use value of desert ecosystem biodiversity. The result indicates WTP is related to interviewees'gender, jobs, education and monthly incomes. Women are more willing to pay than men; public servant, company employee and teachers are more willing to pay than other jobs; highly educated and high income people is more willing to pay than low-levels of education and income. The amount of payment is affected by interviewee's locations, monthly incomes, jobs and education et al. We find that the biodiversity of desert ecosystem non-use value is RMB614.1billion y-1. On the motivation payment of survey respondents hope obtaine desert ecosystem biodiversity that the Bequeath value was RMB203.3billion y-1, the Existence value was RMB225.6billion y-1., and the option value was RMB185.3billion y"1Meanwhile, it suggested that the non-use value of16regions were associated with the size of the area and protected species.This research used contingent valuation method, combination of face interviews in field survey with web answer, preliminary exploration on the Chinese desert ecosystem biodiversity non-use values. Meanwhile, the result can provide an effective policy formulation for the relevant administrative departments.
