Abstract/Summary:
This project sought to identify the factors that Enbridge, Incorporated must address in order to remain competitive in the global oil and gas industry over the next 20 years. It began with a review of literature that drew from topics related to the energy industry, scientific research, and economics to establish a picture of the present and likely future conditions that will affect the midstream oil and gas industry. Based on the information that emerged from the literature review, the project formulated recommendations about the strategic market position(s) and infrastructure investments that Enbridge, Inc. must make in order to remain competitive. The study found that Enbridge should continue to focus on their core competency of delivering energy, primarily crude oil and natural gas, in a safe and efficient manner, while complementing the oil and gas investments with a modest portfolio of renewable energy initiatives.
