Abstract/Summary:
The realm of virtual leadership is a relatively new field of leadership studies. The study provided an in-depth comparison of a variety of methods for virtual leadership. The theoretical framework focused on introvert and extrovert personality types on virtual team effectiveness and cohesion. The purpose of this study was to gain further insight to virtual team leadership, and enable global or virtual organizations with a more successful leadership strategy.;The study's framework aided in the examination of introversion or extroversion having an effect on team effectiveness and cohesion on a virtual team. The two-sample t test on an uneven sample statistically determined whether introversion or extroversion had a greater effect on a virtual team. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Jung, 2008) test determined if the participating leader was an introvert or an extrovert. The criteria for participation required groups of individuals to participate actively in a completely virtual environment. The result of the study was unable to reject the null hypothesis. Neither introvert nor extrovert mannerisms had any effect on team effectiveness and cohesion.
