Abstract/Summary:
The goal of the project is to analyze the MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc Network), its routing protocols and the need for secure intrusion detection systems in MANET. MANET systems are wireless systems with mobile nodes. The MANET nodes dynamic movement does not allow the network to have a fixed physical infrastructure. The open structure of the MANET makes it vulnerable to network attacks like DOS (Denial of Service) and information theft.;To detect the malicious attacks, a secure intrusion detection system is used for a MANET. The existing intrusion detection systems used for MANET are namely watchdog, TWOACK (Two Acknowledgment), and AACK (Adaptive Acknowledgment) schemes. The proposed EAACK (Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgement) scheme is efficient in detecting malicious attacks compared to existing schemes. The EAACK intrusion detection system is implemented for a MANET using Java technology to detect malicious nodes.
