The effort of this exploratory quantitative investigation, via regression analysis is to examine the `Theory of Complexity' by assessing the strength independent variables have in describing the variance in the dependent variable. This study is also intended to fill a gap in the scholarly literature, assist in complexity identification and management and will be an effective resource in the development of distinct methods and strategies to assist in mitigating information technology project failure. This study's general premise is that complexity in information technology projects, more than any other factor is pivotal in information technology project outcomes. The resulting data analysis adds substantial credibility to this hypothesis. Consequently this study confirms the association and provides evidence for a strong relationship amongst project complexity and the project outcome.
