Abstract/Summary:
According to research organizations tracking the development of trends in computing, there has been a phenomenal increase in the use of mobile end systems which augment their processing capabilities with the infrastructure provided by the cloud. This computing paradigm is known as mobile cloud computing and is defined as "... an infrastructure where both the data storage and the data processing happen outside the mobile terminal...."[1] The most important issues which need to be addressed in mobile cloud computing are mobility support and computation offloading. The success of this new computing paradigm almost entirely depends on efficient schemes for computation offloading. A number of schemes have been proposed by previous researchers which have been used in several cloud-based distributed interactive applications (CDIAs). We proposed an improved scheme for load distribution between a mobile end system and the cloud which takes into consideration the resources available at the end system. We will also indicate which category of applications will benefit most from our scheme.
