Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of the individual anaerobic threshold (IAT) as a training tool. A comparison of one group training continuously at the IAT versus another group training intermittently at varying intensities below and above the IAT was made.;Results from this experiment indicated that both training groups manifested similar adaptations to the training programmes. The magnitude of change after training in VO;Since the stimulus to induce physiological adaptations to training was similar for both training programmes, it is concluded that training continuously at the IAT does not elicit greater aerobic training adaptations than does training above and below the IAT.
