This study focuses on the relationship between three languages of Bible translation: source language, target language, and intermediate language (Bible translator's native language).;Special attention is given to the influence of the intermediate language on the Bible translation process.;The languages dealt with here are: Koine Greek, the source language; Korean, the intermediate language; Moskona, Edopi, and Mekeo, the target languages.;The language data analysis is accomplished through the use of five features of Dr. Longacre's discourse analysis model: macrostructure, macrosegmentation and microsegmentation, participant reference, verbs, and cohesion and coherence.;The objective of this study is to suggest the influence of the intermediate language in the Bible translation process. The influence will be estimated from three points of view: linguistic structural, cultural contextual, theological background aspects. The influence is not always negative. However, the Bible translator needs to be aware of the influence in Bible translation process. |
