Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents is associated with risk factors such as obesity. Diabetes can cause severe health complications such as cardiovascular disease, loss of visual activity, limb amputations, and dyslipidemia. This study focuses on the factors that affect the health of children and adolescents and parental readiness to facilitate a transition program in preventing diabetes among children and adolescents. The study of transitional care is important because there is a gradual shift of responsibilities for the self-care management of the emerging adult. In addition, identifying obese children at risk for type 2 diabetes is important in order to interrupt its progression and diabetic related health complications in this age group. |
