Abstract/Summary:
Water protection regulation is always intended to control activities to achieve common environmental objectives for the benefit of present and future generations. Effective regulation is one way of addressing water problems.;From an environmental perspective, such problems cannot be seen only as pollution problems. In fact, water problems must be seen as water depletion, mismanagement of water resources and the consequent conflict of use that arises. Normally, an examination of water problems is limited to the medium of water itself, but in protecting water from toxic substances, the possibility of transference from or to atmosphere and land sources should also be examined. Furthermore, the three types of problems--depletion, pollution and conflict of use of water--are caused by activities which result from a lack of environmental concern and are spread by technological innovation, economic interest and a lack of political commitment.;Government's regulation, is a useful device to help change public values about the environment, economic structures and environmental rights. For this reason, the purposes of this thesis are: First, using these approaches as possible solutions to the water problems, to examine whether both the Indonesian and Jakarta water protection regulations are effective and secondly, to develop/complement the existing regulations to achieve water objectives consistent with sustainable development in Jakarta Province.
