Abstract/Summary:
Object Oriented Techniques are widely used in the Information Technology industry. Object Oriented Programming is a powerful paradigm, which enables better software, improves maintenance, and speeds up development times for large projects. The majority of the civil engineering industry is on the verge of evolving around this paradigm.; This thesis will explore a truss program written in the C procedural language. A finite element preprocessor and a finite element solver, written in Java, will also be presented. The C truss program shown will be expanded into a Java space program.; These programs will illustrate the possibility of representing relationships between objects in computer programming. All objects interact with other objects in both the physical world and the computer world. Without the existence of such relationships, devastating consequences can occur. Therefore, it is essential to preserve real world relationships between objects in computer programs.
