Abstract/Summary:
This thesis proposes a method to determine AAL2 CPS PDU utilization with respect to the Combined Use Timer, Timer Cu, when a CPS supports subcell multiplexing and services multiple SSCS voice sources. A composite arrival process representing packet arrivals from multiple SSCS voice sources with respect to the Timer Cu is developed. A CPS formation process is developed to determine the probabilities of the number of bytes at the start of a Timer Cu count for a given timeout value. The average number of non-padding bytes in a CPS PDU, for a given Timer Cu timeout value is determined. The method developed is used to calculate CPS PDU utilization for a select number of Timer Cu timeout values for a CPS servicing 3 SSCS voice sources. The CPS PDU utilization calculated is compared with a simulation of the process. The percentage error between calculated CPS PDU utilization and the simulated values is found to be between 0.16% and 0.56%.
