Abstract/Summary:
TMS320C31, a member of the TMS320C3x generation of Digital Signal Processors from Texas Instruments, has a wide range of applications in communications, speech processing and etc. In most applications the signal conditions or system parameters change continuously. Updating the filter coefficients at regular intervals is necessary to compensate the changes. Adaptive filtering is preferred to conventional FIR and IIR digital filters because of its flexibility in learning the signal characteristics and its ability in tracking slow changes. Based on the error signal, the coefficients of the adaptive filter are adjusted or optimized. In this thesis an effort was made to highlight the application of adaptive filter in noise cancellation to produce an optimized estimate of the noise and the signal.; TMS320C31 was programmed to filter the noise from bandlimited signal. When the input to the system is given through an adaptive filter, the filter adapts itself to match the unknown system at the given frequency and eliminates the unwanted noise from the signal. An efficient adaptive filter code was generated in assembly language using the modified leaky Least Mean Square (LMS) filter algorithm.
