Abstract/Summary:
In this work an effort has been made to simulate a coexistence model for bluetooth-WLAN simultaneous operation and to study the performance behavior of the bluetooth voice packet in the presence of WLAN interference. The mathematical modeling of the collision probability shows the collision percentage falls from 75% to 37% for the same packet size when the data rate is changed from 5.5 to 11 Mbps. The work has been specifically focused on bluetooth voice packets. The mathematical modeling is followed by a performance evaluation of the bluetooth voice packets in a coexistence scenario. The performance aspect has been specifically limited to the MAC layer. Effort has been made to predict which bluetooth voice packet type offers the maximum throughput in a coexistence environment.
