Abstract/Summary:
Thin films of arsenic triselenide chalcogenide glass were investigated for integrated optics applications. A filter acting as an add-drop multiplexer, for wavelength-routed networks, was designed for construction in arsenic triselenide. Polymers were investigated as an undercladding, and polyamide-imide polymer was demonstrated to be useful, both for use with arsenic triselenide, and for general use in integrated optics. Direct writing of gratings, an important component for integrated optics, was investigated for polymers. Slab and strip waveguiding was demonstrated in arsenic triselenide.
