| The software program Where is Mr. X? was written to help Middle and High school students improve their basic research strategies using Internet connections either at school or at home. This study describes the evaluation of Where is Mr. X? in an educational setting.; Thirty-one students were selected, and given pretests to document any prior knowledge of research strategies using the World Wide Web. Afterward, all students were given interactive lessons using the aforementioned instructional software, then given posttests to help assess the program's effectiveness. Quantitative analyses using a paired t-test compared pretest and posttest scores. Of students who completed the program, all but one showed an improvement in their posttest results. The remaining student's scores remained unchanged. |
