Abstract/Summary:
The Adirondack Park Agency and the Visitor Interpretive Centers were interested in an interactive information kiosk for the VIC in Newcomb, NY. A prototype kiosk was developed using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Netscape Navigator. A combination of images and information was included for each section: outdoor recreation, interpretive, and general. Specific topics covered include recreation maps, trail guides, descriptions of trees and wildlife, forest management, organizations such as the APA and the VICs. A questionnaire was used to evaluate the usefulness of the kiosk to users. This project report describes how the kiosk was developed and evaluated. The report also discusses how the prototype kiosk can be improved.
