| When comparing the state of the art of the didactics of translation at a university level to the skills demanded in a real professional environment, we have detected a double gap: first, the urgency to adapt technical translation teaching to the requirements of our knowledge society, and, particularly to the demands of a market which has dramatically changed in recent years and is still constantly evolving. Secondly, the fact that there is a shortage of empirical research being carried out in this field within a real teaching setting at a university level. The aim of this doctoral thesis is to meet both needs, as far as possible, by devising a specific methodology for the didactics of website localisation taking into account the professional requirements of the sector involved and to apply it within the framework of a university translation course. The didactic model we have devised is based on a conception of translation as a shared activity, postulates the use of information technology in all steps of the process and involves a pedagogic simulation of all the stages of a real translation project.;According to the results we have obtained, we can conclude that the methodology we have applied, which builds up on the previous knowledge of the students and on a more general didactic model they have already assimilated, seems to be an efficient tool as far as learning and motivation are concerned. Students have also positively assessed the use of a virtual support for collaborative work. |
