Abstract/Summary:
My MFA thesis exhibition, I Love You Forever, deconstructs various modes of historical representation in an installation space. By utilizing print media to appropriate photographs, letters, speeches, and artifacts, as well as borrowing specific aesthetics from both private and public sites, the work is constantly being mediated by another source, suggesting history, like identity, is fragmented and incomplete. With originality and sincerity thrown into question, and the subject extended from the portrait on the wall, to the wall itself, a psychoanalytic and antagonistic context presents itself.
