Abstract/Summary:
Before beginning the process of aircraft design, some parameters must be chosen. This relates to the geometry of the profiles, of the wings and the tail, the specific thrust, the maximum takeoff weight, the fuel quantity, etc.; The new approaches of the airfoils design are based on the results of the numerical simulations for a given pressure and velocity profiles. Certain methods are conceived so to reach a maximum variation of pressure between lower and upper surfaces the rather possible one without reaching the separation of the flow as much. Other new approaches aim is to maintain as long as possible a laminar flow around the profile. The other objective of these methods is to conceive profiles having the best ratio between the lift and the drag forces. All these methods aim is to optimise the form of the profile.; In this work, we studied the prediction of the drag force coefficients and its decomposition in its various components in order to be able to minimise them.
