The Direct Simulation Monte Carlo technique is used to model the behavior of a molecular fluid entrained in the annular region between rotating cylinders. The simulation validates an extension to the slip boundary condition for the Navier-Stokes equation, proposed by Panzer, Liu, and Einzel. Specifically, this simulation has exhibited the anomolous reversal of slope of the angular component of velocity, as a function of radius, for systems with large slip lengths, as predicted by Panzer, et al. |
