Abstract/Summary:
An approach for computerized design, generation and simulation of meshing of cycloidal gears and rotors of screw compressors is proposed.;The predecessor of involute gearing was the cycloidal gearing. Later, the involute gearing had substituted the cycloidal gearing in many areas but not in the watch industry. The new life of cycloidal gearing began when such gearing was applied in Wankel engine, Root's blower, screw compressors, and pumps.;This thesis is dealing with the computerized design and generation of gears applied in Wankel engine, Root's blowers and rotors of screw compressors. The main advantages of the modern theory of gearing have been applied in the thesis as follows: (i) parametric representation of curves and surfaces instead of representation by implicit functions; (ii) new approach for derivation of equation of meshing; (iii) derivation of singularities; (iv) relation between the curvatures; (v) design of the tool for manufacturing of cycloidal gearing; (vi) simulation of meshing of screw compressors.;Computer programs have been developed to cover all the topics. The output of the investigation are demonstrated by tables and figures in this thesis. The modern theory of gearing that is applied in this thesis have been proven to be a powerful tool for the design and manufacture of Wankel's engine, Root's blower, and screw compressors.
