Abstract/Summary:
In + Out of Control is a design focused investigation into the development of an architectural facade that provides an experiential architecture for the occupant through the control of light and view. This body of work aims to design a facade component that can enrich the experience of the indoors in an active, "living" way. This work seeks to use a mechanically activated facade to establish a relationship between the indoors and outdoors as well as one between the occupant, the building, and the environment. A question that is constantly addressed in this investigation is, can the building establish an autonomous identity as a vehicle of experience between the occupant and environment?...
