Indeed, until now, such flow meters are calibrated by using air or water as the working fluid. The ASME/ANSI MFC-6M-1987 standard, dealing with the measurement of flow rate with Vortex flowmeters, stipulate that the accuracy of these flowmeters can be improved by in situ calibration, using thus steam as the working fluid. In addition, this same standard suggest to do the calibration by comparing the measures of the calibrated flowmeter with those from a critical flow nozzle.; The testing bench used is located in the Centre of Thermal Technology (CTT) of ETS and is composed of a heat exchanger allowing to condensate the steam, a scale with a weigh tank, a calibrated flowmeter and a critical flow nozzle. An acquisition data system allows to record the tests results.; The principle of the measure consists in maintaining a steady-state regime and in measuring the variation of the mass of condensate during a period of time to obtain an average value of the flow rate on this period and comparing it to the reading value on the calibrated flow meter.; The project is composed of different steps: the analyse of the thermal behaviour of the testing bench, with an aim of adjusting this design to allow the calibration and the study of the accuracy of the measurement method used in the calibration procedure. Moreover, one checking of a flow meter calibration will be carried out.; The results obtained allowed us to prove the testing bench can be used to calibrate steam flowmeters using steam as the working fluid with a good accuracy. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Flow, Steam, Calibration, Working fluid, Using, Testing bench, Measurement, Condensate | | Related items |
