Abstract/Summary:
Air quality attracts more concern from communities and legislatures. To improve air quality, regional air quality management strategies have been proposed by this research. Operation, Maintenance and Environmental, Health and Safety (OMS) are linked together by using a commercial software package MocKingbird. From this single platform, engineers and operators in Chemical Process Industries (CPI) can get process information and environmental compliance information in a faster, cheaper and safer way.;As one of the application of OMS lab, real-time emission inventory database has been developed in this thesis by using Microsoft (MS) Access. One module coded in MS VB 6.0 gets process data from Distributed Control System (DCS) historian and put into the real-time emission database. Another module calculates the emissions and updates the emissions for each point source. Hourly emissions data of point source is then available on line for operators and environmental supervisors.;Another VB module has been developed to report the emissions of upset events by using the real-time emission inventory database. This emission events reporting and recordkeeping are required by the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Title 30 Chapter 101 Subchapter F.
