Abstract/Summary:
The study examined the work expectations case managers possess for individuals with developmental disabilities. Case managers' work expectations for their clients were examined in relation to the severity of the client's developmental disability, as well as the case manager's work experience, awareness of available workplace supports, and work related concerns.;Forty-six case managers of regional center clients completed an online survey. Frequencies, within subject t-tests, correlations and descriptive statistics were conducted to analyze responses. Case managers reported higher work expectations for clients with less severe intellectual disability. Case managers expressed a high degree of work related concerns for their clients with developmental disability, regardless of the client's level of severity of intellectual functioning. Neither the case manager's tenure nor his/her awareness of available workplace supports had substantial impact on their work expectations for individuals with developmental disabilities.
