Community supported agriculture participation on a farm in western New York

Abstract/Summary:
The objectives of this study were to understand why members participate in community supported agriculture (CSA) and how their dietary habits have changed. A systematic sample from a random start was utilized to collect data from members of a farm in western New York. A sample of 50 members were used. The tool used was a researcher developed telephone questionnaire. Answers were tape recorded, answers with the same theme were counted and the percentage of the total answer received were calculated. Members stated they participate because they received organic produce and they renew their memberships because they have a positive experience. Participation increased their produce consumption and may be a way for people to increase fruit and vegetable intake.
