Abstract/Summary:
Abstract: Iraqi farmers have suffered from a lack of sufficient experience in determining the correct agricultural machinery. Iraqi farmers lose a lot of money performing agricultural operations, as a result of incorrect management of agricultural machinery. Iraqi Machinery Selection Modeling (IMSM) was developed to select optimum size of Iraqi agricultural machines. It is designed by using Visual Basic 6 edition. The main object of the modeling is to help Iraqi farmers to select optimum size of machine correctly and reduce the agricultural operations cost. The required inputs data are field area, working hours per day, available days per year, field speed, and field efficiency. Using the input data and the machine width formula, IMSM calculates the machine width. The result shows that there is positive relationship between the field area and machine width. There is an inverse relationship between working hours per day and machine width. Also, the results show that there is an inverse relationship between the field speed and machine width. Increased field speed leads to lower fuel consumption per unit and makes the agricultural operations lower cost thus increases the farmer's profits. Moreover, the result shows that there is an inverse relationship between the field efficiency and machine width. The program is very easy to use by any farmer because it works like a basic calculator, and does not need higher computer skills from farmers. I recommend Iraqi farmers use the IMSM to identify the optimum size of machine for their farms.
