| The rapid evolution of e-commerce brings more and more interest in personalized services for each individual user. As a key component of personalization, user profiles become the center of attention, and have been widely studied with seriousness. This thesis is a survey on main aspects of the user profiles, focusing on techniques for developing and using user profiles, including introduction and discussion on privacy and security considerations, and international standards.
