Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is associated with a computer based cryptology laboratory that is to be used in conjunction with an Introduction to Cryptology course. Detailed within are the multiple mathematical cryptological methods and functions that are the basis for understanding encryption and analysis. The descriptions of specific encryption and decryption methods follow with the emphasis on the detailed workings of the algorithms.; The Cryptology Laboratory discussed in this thesis is written using Java and has a GUI interface. The Laboratory is to be used as a supplemental teaching tool. The students will be able to practice the application of the cryptology concepts using a tool that applies specific educational theories to the learning process. Along with the ability to perform specific cryptological functions with this application, it is built modularly and the ability to add functionality to the application is a definite advantage to the student.
