This project presents the development of a Cloud-based home automation system that operates home appliances via a mobile application and includes features such as file uploading and downloading. Using a dynamic IP, provided via Wi-Fi, users can control home appliances via an Android application by configuring the Android application via an IP address and port number. The home Cloud system allows users to access and operate the system from anywhere around the world through the internet, thus integrating Cloud networking, wireless communications, multi-touch mobile devices, and power-line communications. Additionally, the system provides Android phone users the ability to download and upload images or files within their home. This system uses Raspberry-Pi hardware, an Android application, and a computer based program to provide a user interface for the consumer. Compared to other home automation systems in the market today, this system is cost efficient, user friendly, and easy to program.
