Abstract/Summary:
A guaranteed Quality of Service is a very important factor in network applications. This is because of the enormous amount of use of Internet Protocol to deliver Voice to end-users. The parameters characterizing QoS in VoIP are packet loss, end to-end delay, and jitter.; The term Quality of Service refers to the ability to control and provide better service to selected types of traffic and application on a computer network. The primary goal of QoS is to provide priority, including dedicated bandwidth, jitter, latency and improved loss characteristics, to selected applications and services.; The main objectives of this thesis were to determine the factors affecting the Quality of Service in Voice over Internet Protocol Networks, analyze the existing VoIP implementations and suggest ways to attain higher QoS.
