Abstract/Summary:
The current project presents the development of a geo-link resilient protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The proposed protocol effectively overcomes link breakage issues by finding the shortest path with minimum delays in a MANET, and maintains up-to-date network topology information. The piggybacking technique used in the proposed method can filter unnecessary packets, which are generated multiple times with the same node information, and can reduce overhead as compared to existing protocols. Simulation results show that the geo-link resilient protocol as compared to the standard Pro-active protocol reduces overhead by 50%, it improves the packet delivery function by 95% and it reduces delays by 80%. Simulations also show that the geo-link resilient protocol provides significantly improved performance as compared to the lightweight pro-active source routing (LPSR) protocol.
