Abstract/Summary:
The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is currently developing very fast and attracts more and more global attention. A lot of research work has been carried out on the UWB technology and one of the most important tasks is to characterize the UWB wireless channels. Recently several statistical models for characterizing the large-scale path loss and the multipath delay profile for UWB propagation have been proposed both in IEEE 802.15 standards contributions and in published papers.;This thesis presents frequency domain channel measurements and the statistical modeling efforts on an indoor 2GHz---5GHz UWB wireless channel in a typical Lab/office environment. A statistical model for the prediction of large-scale path loss is discussed for both LOS and NLOS scenarios. Time domain analysis is also performed and several statistical models are discussed to characterize the multipath delay spread and the Multipath Intensity Profile of this UWB channel.
