Abstract/Summary:
The diversity of applications, heterogeneous data sources and propagation techniques has made information more complex and the dialogue between organizers and computer systems more difficult. One of the solutions to bring the information technology and business needs is Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to respond to user requests and take into account the existing guarantee the performance and simplicity. Despite this flexibility, Inmon mentions that SOA is based on the transactional data in constant changes together with heterogeneity and diversity of formats. To anticipate and react to events, organization should rely upons a historical data base oriented business, with reliable and unambiguous interpretations to adequately meet the strategic needs. A solution is a data warehouse architecture but it poses problems such as costs coming from the diversity of proprietary and non-reusable products.;To overcome these shortcomings, Inmon believes that SOA is a solution that meets the requirements of the company provided that it is sitting on a knowledge base that is the data warehouse. Our contribution in this research project is to integrate the data warehouse into SOA, referred to as a Service Oriented Data Warehouse Architecture (SODWA).;This project covers only the design of the SODWA. This design integrates two proven technologies: standard Web services and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). This architecture integrates the services of the providers of analyses applications, such as the Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) applications, business services provider of data integration such as extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) and a data repository which consists of a data warehouse and Data Marts.;This document is divided into three chapters. The first chapter presents the state of the art on data warehouse architectures and Service-oriented architectures. The second chapter introduces the research goals, objectives, limitations, and the research methodology. The third chapter presents the design of the Service-Oriented Data Warehouse Architecture (SODWA) to facilitate the integration of the data warehouse into a Service-oriented architecture with its core concepts, its rationale, and an example of using the SODWA. A preliminary and partial qualitative assessment of the architecture is also presented.
