Abstract/Summary:
As the electronic storage of information becomes more prevalent and accessible, the field of information retrieval has been receiving an increasing amount of attention. While it is becoming more important for information to be retrieved efficiently and effectively, this academic and commercial attention gives rise to a need to be able to accurately quantify, easily interpret, and catalog search engine performance. This document addresses both needs by proposing one such means of quantifying search engine performance, and also introducing an adaptive information retrieval algorithm based on document clustering.
