Abstract/Summary:
The aim of this study was to investigate the impacts of the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and the Global Positioning System (GPS) based game of Geocaching in the modern high school agriscience classroom. The study explored these effects by presenting agriscience students from northern Middle Tennessee with a GPS and Geocaching unit that was developed by the researcher. Students' critical thinking, leadership, and information recall abilities were all evaluated. Results showed that GPS inclusion in agricultural classrooms significantly increased student critical thinking and showed moderate development in leadership ability. Geocaching inclusion saw a slight increase in most critical thinking constructs as well as moderate levels of leadership development.
