Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a usable and effective evidence based curriculum aimed at decreasing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), symptoms of depression, feelings of low self esteem and feelings of disempowerment for adult women who have been victims of Domestic Violence (DV) and or Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).;The goal of this curriculum is to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD, depression, and gain positive self esteem and regain empowerment in the lives of those that have survived this type of abuse. This is a group work empowerment curriculum including two types of psychotherapeutic practices, theories and interventions: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Trauma Therapy for Battered Women (CTT-BW).;The curriculum provides a trainers manual and a workbook for the members. The group leader's manual is developed to be used as a guide to help members along with their workbook activities.
