The project's purpose was to design a program, identify potential funding sources, and write an application for a grant to fund an extended independent living services program for emancipated foster youth to assist with housing, education, employment, income, and health in Los Angeles County. A literature review increased knowledge about the problem involving emancipated foster youth and poorer outcomes that foster youth face as young adults across a variety of domains, including housing, education, employment income, and health. An Internet search for potential funding sources resulted in the selection of the California Community Foundation as the best funding source for this project. A grant application was written to support an extended living services program for emancipated foster youth in Los Angeles County. The submission and/or funding of this grant proposal was not required for the successful completion of this thesis. |
