Abstract/Summary:
Two dances, Discarded Picassos and The Red King's Dream, were presented at the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater at California State University, Long Beach on 20 February 2003 and 19 February 2004, respectively. Discarded Picassos was approximately 17:20 seconds in length; The Red King's Dream was approximately 33:00 minutes in length. Discarded Picassos, a trio of two women and one man, explored a male/female relationship in which the man possessed the power to both create and destroy the female personae. The Red King's Dream dealt with personal identity, social alienation, and perception of one's environment in an existentialist attempt to express the frustration of the individual at odds with society.
